Career Experience


August 2004 to Present
Graphic Designer, serving Merrill Lynch Alternative Investments. Pennington, NJ

Provide desktop publishing support in an investment banking environment, managing workflow and multiple deadlines and utilizing a wide variety of graphics software in a cross-platform environment. I create and update financial marketing materials (such as presentations, monthly performance reports, guides, templates and one-pagers), logos and graphics using PowerPoint, Word, Excel, QuarkXpress, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. I adhere to company graphics and font use standards, defining such when needed. In addition, I am responsible for the operation and maintenance of my Mac, seeing to software updates, font management, network issues and resolutions, and redundant backups.

I have held this position since June 2002, originally through Pitney Bowes Management Services. When PBMS lost their contract in 2004, our staff was retained by the new contractor, Bowne. Bowne was subsequently purchased by Williams Lea, who has maintained the contract to the present.

My role as graphic designer involved producing finished press-ready files and printing plates for a computer-to-plate short-run printing house. This entailed creating and/or modifying files on Macintosh systems, using QuarkXpress, Illustrator, Photoshop and other graphics applications and operating and maintaining Panther imagesetter for poly-plate output. The position also called for hi-res color scanning, font management, image correction, paste-up of customer proofs, color separations, trapping control and file management. I designed many client logos and printed materials including stationery, mailings, and presentations. In an additional capacity, I was responsible for graphic design, layout, and administration of several web sites hosted through Digital Color Graphics, utilizing Adobe's Photoshop, ImageReady, and GoLive in addition to Perl, flat text and PHP scripting.

While at Mothernature, I managed production of digital product photography for natural-products e-commerce web site. Created and maintained image workflow utilizing digital capture and Adobe Photoshop. I also produced a variety of special promotions, including company-wide standard desktop image, 'gift basket' photographs, and facility-specific signage.

Digital Technician, Burton Photo Industries. Philadelphia, PA

Duties included preparing customer files for output to Fire1000 film plotter, Encad Novajet plotter, and Litejet 5000 direct-digital printer, in addition to creating or modifying artwork to customer specifications. Daily tasks involved heavy use of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and QuarkXPress on Macintosh and Windows platforms, as well as PageMaker (Mac/Windows), CorelDraw (Mac/Windows), and Cheetah raster image processor under Windows NT. Also required execution of tape backup and retrieval using Dantz Retrospect, and CD backup using Adaptec Toast.
